Asociación San Lucas is a not-for-profit organization based in the north east of Peru, providing health care programmes for vulnerable and marginalized populations.

One programme focuses on providing aid and healthcare to elderly individuals, particularly those living in extreme poverty or who are bedridden.

1 in 1,000 children in Peru are born with cleft lip and palate, a condition which causes difficulties with feeding, speech, hearing, and social integration. Access to comprehensive multidisciplinary healthcare is limited. Since 1995, Asociacion San Lucas has run free treatment programmes for affected children, organising 1 or 2 surgery weeks each year with follow up dental care, orthodontics, speech therapy and psychological support.

Since 2012 Asociación San Lucas has offered free recorder lessons to children after cleft palate surgery with the aim of improving lip muscles, breathing and speech. Children may later switch to other instruments and then have the opportunity to join a youth orchestra, aiming to improve social integration of children and adolescents from different backgrounds.
