East Dunbartonshire Befriending Service aims to reduce the negative impact of loneliness and social isolation.

Provision of a Befriending Service increases opportunities for social interaction by matching clients with carefully selected volunteers who give regular support and companionship, or in a small group of people with similar interests. Events and activities take place in local venues and present opportunities for people to become more involved with their community.

Types of support include:

• 1-2-1 matches with volunteers which can take place in either the homes of the clients or by participating in community activities.
• Group befriending sessions are run regularly throughout East Dunbartonshire with the activities in each one based on a theme selected by the members.
• Telephone befriending is available for those seeking some companionship but who would rather not meet face to face.
• A programme of events running throughout the year including parties, bus trips and other outings.
