Transform Burkina
Transform Burkina is a small UK based charity seeking to eradicate poverty in Burkina Faso in West Africa.
According to recent United Nations Development Programme statistics this is one of the poorest countries in the world.
Over half the country’s population rely on unreliable and often polluted water sources, many having to walk for many hours each day to collect water for their family. 50% of all schools in the country have no toilets for children to use.
Education is critical to improving livelihoods, yet it is estimated that 70% of adults in Burkina Faso are illiterate. Malaria, HIV / AIDS and other preventable diseases are all too common and child mortality remains high. Government health services are overstretched and underfunded and many people struggle to access even basic medical care.
Working in partnership with local organisations, Transform Burkina supports projects in education, clean water and sanitation, healthcare, micro credit and income generation.
